About folder name and location
This is where you enter the Gallery folder Name and Gallery folder location. Together these form the full path where Shozam creates your gallery files and folders. If a folder with that name does not already exists at that location, Shozam will create one.
When creating a new gallery
Gallery folder name is empty. Enter a folder name for your gallery (required).
TIP: Best is to use something descriptive, similar to the Gallery title, but shorter and without any spaces. 8 characters is best for widest compatibility if you have older Windows computers; otherwise longer names are quite safe too. Avoid spaces in the name; if the folder itself is uploaded to the Web, spaces in the Web address bar will be replaced by unsightly characters like %20. If you want to separate the text, best to use dashes or underscores instead. Some good names are: MyGallery, FamilyVacation, 2009-06-05-RoadTrip, etc.
Gallery folder location by default points to ...public\My Documents\My Shozam Galleries. It is best left alone, unless you have your own file organization that you use and want to store the gallery to a different location on your computer or local network.
When you click Generate gallery, Shozam will create a new folder and generate all gallery files in that folder.
When modifying an existing gallery
NOTE: Changing either of the two Gallery folder fields (name or location) and clicking Generate will have Shozam generate your gallery files in a new folder. All gallery files will be generated, even if the "generate modified files only" is checked.
Gallery folder name is filled with the name of the folder that currently contains the gallery; typically the name you have given the folder when you originally created the gallery. Shozam reads this value from the path used in Step 1. You should generally not need to change it.
TIP: It may make sense to change the Gallery folder name if you have an existing gallery that got too big and you want to divide it into several pieces. Then you may want to modify the large gallery, delete some albums, give the gallery a new Gallery title and a new Gallery folder name and click Generate. This will create a new smaller gallery, containing a subset of the original one, in the folder with the new foldername. You will find this folder at the same Gallery folder location.
Gallery folder location is filled with the location containing the current gallery, read in Step 1 of Shozam when you opened the gallery. You would typically change the location if you want to move the gallery to a different place on your local network.
HINT: If you have a larger website that you have created with Adobe Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage, you can generate the Shozam gallery files directly into your website file structure on your computer. You can change the Gallery folder location also if you want to generate the gallery in a different location as a backup. In this case be also aware when you start Shozam again and choose which gallery to open in Step 1 that you choose the correct version as the backup location may be listed as the default.
NOTE: Changing the Gallery folder name OR Gallery folder location values for an existing gallery will then generate the gallery in a new location/folder. You can use this to create backups or for any other reason. If you do not need any longer the gallery generated at the old location, you may delete that folder.
Technical details
All gallery information you enter in Shozam is stored in an XML file named WebGallery.xml . This file is generated, together with all gallery files, when you click on the Generate button. Later if you decide to modify an existing gallery, in Step 1 of Shozam you will need to point to the folder which contains your gallery files. Shozam will validate your choice if it can find the WebGallery.xml in that folder.
