Image file compression This feature lets you set file compression size for your images. Compression level is 0 (highest compression, lowest quality) to 100 lowest compression, highest quality. The default is 60 (on a scale of 0 to 100), and the global default can be changed in the Step 5, Image tab.
How to use this feature
- Select the thumbnail of the image you want to adjust
- In the Image file compression section, uncheck the Use default box
- Use the slider bar to select the compression you want
What compression file size is best?
The program default (60) is ideal for all-purpose galleries. For artists and professional photographers, we recommend a compression of 80 as long as larger file sizes aren't an issue. For quick draft galleries, or when download speeds are an issue, you can use compression values below 60.
Applying file compression settings to multiple images
- Mutiple images within an album: you can either set the compression for each image one-by-one, or if you have several images with the same compression requirements, just use multiple select (Ctrl or Shift modifier keys). Then you can apply one file compression setting to several images at once
- Global default for all gallery images: go to Step 5, click the Image tab, and set your global Image file compression default
